6 miles this morning, 29 degrees, a fresh skiff of snow, and 10 mph SW winds. Not a bad morning as I got a nice tailwind coming home. Legs felt strong, glad I didn't do Boot Camp this week. Maybe every other week I'll go kill myself at BC and then have tired legs for a week. It has to help somehow.

Looking good on those runs, Russ. I was looking at your recent weekly totals; what is the plan? Just getting stronger for the 50k?

Plan, Schman. I don't really have one, so my main plan for now is to hit 35 mpw so I can be at 1800 for the year, and if I run 6 miles per day plus at least 10 on Saturday that will hit my goal. I would love to do a spring marathon before the 50K as June is a long ways out, but it's slim pickins here in Billings and no travel budget. Last year's travel $ to races hit hard. So, not sure. But, if I keep my mileage around 40 it should help me out in the long run (no pun intended, but I like it). And if a race pops up, I can go give it a shot without too much trouble. Any advice for me? I'm all ears (but thankfully grew into them during junior high).

It's a good holding pattern, I think. The steady, consistent training will hold your fitness at a good level until you decide you've got a race to chase. Boot camp sounds like great cross training. The only thing I would consider is making 1 run per week a tempo/hill/interval type workout.

Good advice - I have been doing the same run for weeks now, and I need to mix it up. You've given me some ideas of what & where to run. Thanks coach!
