Not get super fat, and qualify for Boston before I'm 50 (April 2023).

Personal:

Started running seriously in March 2010. Married 22 years to a hot momma and we have 3 boys, 1 sweet girl, 2 dogs, 3 2 0 1 cat, and 6     4 5 6 3 5 3 1 2 0 chickens (until Spring 2019 when we'll start over). As of September 2018 I'm looking for work... yay. I'm on the local School Board.

I started feeling rough last night, and after a few hours of work in the morning I took a nap from 10:30-11:30, then again from 12:30-5. Ugh.

After rallying late last night and finally feeling normal, I thought I'd do better at work today. I didn't. Still worked a full day, but off and on, and most of it was while lying in bed. One of the great benefits of working from home. Not sure when I'll run again. Finally dawned on me today that I have the flu - thankfully I got a flu shot, as this was mild compared to how I've had the flu in the past; no fever, slept well, just terribly fatigued.

Skiing. A lot. Lots of vert, double black diamonds, harder than I’ve ever done before. Legs were sore, esp quads, and still sore. Great powder day with 40” snow the 5 days before.

The home office is on the East coast so I start each morning with a 6:30 meeting, work some days all the way until 5 with minor breaks, then work some evenings and some on weekends. Between 50-60 hrs per week, plus my school board and church commitments has reduced my free time for running. Hoping to figure it out once we hit some deadlines at work and it slows down.

4 miles outside. It warmed up today; 7 degrees with -11 windchill. Cold temps, but prepared so I was sweating like a madman when I returned. Nice to run outside again if only for a bit.

But you run outside when it’s crazy hot and humid! The difference is I can layer up and stay warm; you can’t stay cool when it’s hot outside. Similar, but different. :) And it really is all about the right equipment. I’ve compiled enough warm gear that I can run in cold temps and stay warm.

Finally starting to have good weather days! Hit 50 & 60 a couple times, super exciting. Today 3/29 was chilly again, wore my light winter gear, but the snow didn’t stick. Not sure how much I’ll be updating the blog going forward, mainly using Strava and my Apple Watch to log my runs.... how you doing?

Things are going great! Irie qualify for Boston 2020 a few weeks ago and 1 a big Team Roping two weeks ago. So happy I have the time and income do these things now. (BTW... did I ever get the show you my business?)

Callie, my daughter, is on Strava. I actually have an account but don't have a watch that syncs with it. I guess I need to move into the 21st century and get one. Hahaha! Let's connect over there in case you move there permanently. Find me under my name, Preston Tatum.
