Got to bed late so had a rough time waking up. Was going to do 4, but 3 is awfully close and it was a nice little workout. My legs felt good and I was going much faster towards the end of the first mile than I normally do, and after that I was in the 7:30s going uphill, which is a great time for me. I pushed it a little bit to the turnaround point and beyond, hitting low 7s. Just before 1/2 mile to go I heard my legs screaming a bit so I slowed quite a bit and coasted in the rest of the way. It was nice to have some legs back and I'm looking forward to trying some faster paces in the next few weeks as I prep for a 10K on July 21st. Last week I bought me some really lightweight shoes (5.5 ounces) for some speedwork sessions and for 5Ks and 10Ks. I haven't tried them out yet as I live on a gravel road and I don't even want to attempt to run in them on gravel. My kids think they're pretty cool though, which is something I rarely hear from them.

There's some zip coming back in them there legs of yours. Be sure now and not to dirty them there fancy-dancy new runners of yours.

I'm after something similar on the shoe front but where I live it's tough getting decent running shoes. I'm reading up on flats/racers at the moment. I wear Asics Nimbus for training and they're great, but I don't know what to get for speed/tempo/racing. Any ideas? I'm a 'neutral' and I like soft/cushioned shoes.

There might be zip in the legs - scary thought for an old guy like me who has never had zip before but I'm anxiously waiting to see what they can do.

I am the last person to answer questions about shoes, but I do know who to ask: Jake. My guess is he'll lead you to his Saucony Kinvaras as those seem a popular lightweight shoe among the blog. As for getting them, check out http://www.runningwarehouse.com/int/?show=int. They have decent prices and at least in the states it's fast shipping. Not sure the cost of international but maybe worth looking into? The link I pasted is for you international blokes.
