8 miles this morning around the river walk path in San Antonio.  Gorgeous. Hot though, 71F with high humidity. My shirt was drenched at the end. I would've been more dry running through sprinklers. Effort was solid. Running on the flat gives me new appreciation for the flatlanders. In the hills I

can run a hard effort up but then rest on the way back. On the flat there's no rest. Did I mention the heat?  Mad props for those running in this junk all the time.  I'd rather run in sub zero temps.  Can't recall my AP. 8:30 I think.  Good run. Now time to sit on my rear all day and learn new ways to do my job. Hopefully get some pool time later.

I'm glad you found a river path, and even without an escort. You should track down the bats. goo.gl/48z3d

That would remind you of good times atop a houseboat at lake powell, reading stephen king books while bats dive-bomb bugs attracted to the reading light.

Pure awesomeness Kam. and allie, i would've much preferred the cold this morning, but sure was glad for the heat this afternoon sweating by the pool. hope tomorrow's much warmer for you and all. but not 71 degrees. maybe 49.

Welcome to Texas! I'm glad the weather was only 71 and really not hot and humid!

Thanks IJR! I flew home this morning. I guess you get used to the heat & humidity, but I'm very impressed that not only can you all run in that, but you can train in it and perform at high levels. Amazing to me.

From I Just Run on Thu, May 02, 2013 at 14:21:50 from 67.79.11.242

Russ,

You know I think it's the humidity that is the killer. When you sweat and the sweat doesn't evaporate, that's when it's so uncomfortable and you overheat. As far as "perform at high levels" ... well that's a very relative statement!

From Russ on Thu, May 02, 2013 at 14:28:22 from 74.114.3.253

I just checked the weather history from yesterday morning, and the humidity was 96%. I guess my statement about running in the sprinklers being drier was pretty accurate. I will say one thing, though. My lips did not get chapped once during my run....

From I Just Run on Thu, May 02, 2013 at 14:48:32 from 67.79.11.242

You do have to worry about chapping...but it's sure not your lips! ;-O (That's me squinching at just the thought!)

From Kam on Thu, May 02, 2013 at 15:35:37 from 68.66.163.179

"My lips hurt real bad."

"Why don't you use the school nurses'?"

Ah, these comments give new meaning to the English term of endearment "chaps". Well done chaps. I think I'll go buy me some more Glide.
