Personal:

Started running seriously in March 2010. Married 22 years to a hot momma and we have 3 boys, 1 sweet girl, 2 dogs, 3 2 0 1 cat, and 6     4 5 6 3 5 3 1 2 0 chickens (until Spring 2019 when we'll start over). As of September 2018 I'm looking for work... yay. I'm on the local School Board.

2 elliptical miles. Man, those things are slow! I worked my butt off and did 50 minutes on the machine from hell, but thankfully had some interesting shows to watch. And I don't recall anything I watched, but it passed the time. I wore my Garmin HR monitor and kept the HR above 130 most of the time, got it up to 158 or so on the toughest parts. Good enough I guess. The elliptical HR monitor was always 10-20 bpm faster than my Garmin. I'll trust my watch.

nice job, russ. the elliptical can be tough, but it's a good substitute for running. way to keep that HR up and get it done.

thanks allie! i like the one i used today - simulated running pretty well and almost no foot pain afterwards. best of luck in your race tomorrow! i think it's the same course smooth recently did? don't break your foot. but if you do, just keep running.

i'm preemptively avoiding all injuries by wearing boot casts as running shoes.
