8 miles this morning and I felt good. Shorts, long sleeve shirt & gloves helped and only a slight breeze. The pace was much improved from yesterday and I wanted to see what I could do on the way back. I pushed it and the last 3 miles were 7:30, 7:23, and 7:00. It was a controlled push. I know I'll feel it tomorrow when I do a slow 6, but I'm glad I could shift the legs into a higher gear as it's been a while.

nice times, I don't know how you do it, I can only go slower!

It's much easier when it's downhill!

I dig those splits, Russ. Check out this fall marathon: http://www.huntsvilleutahmarathon.com/images/HuntsvilleMarathonRoute.pdf

If you can keep up that pace down a hill for 26 miles you've got a bq in the bag.

Yowzers! That's some serious downhill, and a really high starting elevation. Looks like a cool course. Are you thinking of doing that one versus TOU?

Okay - ignore that question. I just saw your reply elsewhere that you're undecided between the two. Tough choice.

TOU has a good turnout. They really run a good race. Huntsville will be a lot smaller, but there's something appealing about running a new marathon. The start time is 10 a.m., which I really like, opposed to getting up in the threes to catch a bus. The start will be really cold at that elevation that time of year, but the scenery along that road will be gorgeous. The courses are a push until mile 18, and then Huntsville far outstrips TOU. Instead of winding around, you get straight shots into the finish.
