4 easy miles today. Legs are very aware of the killer weekend workout. My body was too - I was exhausted Saturday and Sunday. My wife asked if I had any workouts of 18 miles leading up to my race. I don't want to tell her I have 4 more that are MORE than 18. A 20 this weekend, then a dial back to 10, then a 22, 22, and 24 before tapering. Hmm. Not sure I'll find any pity for being exhausted in future weekends. Hopefully my body will toughen up quick and get me some fast recovery.

A sympathetic wife is very helpful, but they are hard to find. Not many girls understand the running type of masochism.

So true. I think not many non-(insert hobby here) understand the masochism of the hobby to which they aren't associated. I wish my wife could run more, but her body won't allow. She'd like to but not possible. There's a bit of admitted jealousy going on sometimes too from her side. Plus, I get grumpy when I'm exhausted... working on that one. :)

I'm getting better at being useless, but happy. The runs wipe you out, but if you can just gradually condition your family members to your uselessness for the rest of the day (while smiling, of course) you may be set. Usually I look forward to watching the baseball game on Fox all afternoon.
