I finally picked a marathon training plan, Hal's Intermediate 2 plan, and I'm jumping in at week 10. The schedule said to run 9 miles today so I did. The schedule has me doing 19 this Saturday and 20 the next but both of those days are taken up with a 7 hour drive to Scout Camp so that will be tough to do. I guess we'll see.

It rained last night quite a bit so it was 93% humidity this morning. Only 61 degrees, but the air was rich. My singlet was drenched with back sweat only halfway through my run. I took it off with a couple miles to go and it felt much better. My headband was a 4 wringer this morning, with copious amounts of sweat wringed into the sink. Awesome. Legs felt pretty good in spite of only getting 6 hours of sleep last night. Need more sleep tonight to make up for it.

PM - Did 1.5 with my kids, 2 of whom are doing the Big Sky State Games 5K this Friday. They haven't put much into it but hopefully it will keep them inspired.

Do your long run on Friday or Monday. Sometimes, you gotta adapt. I think the long run is important, but less so now that you have more experience. It's almost more of a mental confidence booster than anything else. Christi on the blog ran a 3:03 marathon with a maximum week of 45 miles and 18 miles as her longest run in a training cycle.

Thanks Kam for the reality check. This weekend's long run is in doubt with a 10K race on Saturday morning but next week I'll do 20 on Friday. I honestly wouldn't have thought of that. Duh - I have blinders on with my schedules. Scout Camp is on an island with a 2.5 mile shoreline. I think I'll be seeing lots of that shoreline next week.

Watch you don't get dizzy running around that Island - you might fall in the water and end up wetter than you did today:)

Ah, great point Bam! I think for my longer runs I'll have the boat shuttle me to shore, but maybe not. 8 times around the island would be better than 80 times around a track...

Russ, Be sure now and to let us know how your kids get on in the 5k and make sure you keep plugging away at the training.
