8 rainy, windy, and muddy miles. Not the trifecta I was hoping for. Ugh. The wind more than anything just sapped my strength and made it tough to keep going. I was more prepared for the rain today, with a hat and arm warmers, but the wind was just annoying enough to make it not-quite-miserable-but-just-about. Okay, that's a bit of a whiny stretch but still...

AP: 8:25. Scalding hot shower felt great. Not that I was frozen, but it still felt great.

P.S. I broke 200 miles for the month, which is a first and is 22 miles more than any previous month, and I plan on doing 10 miles tomorrow. I'm hoping May will catapult me to a good season of races.

Nice running Russ!

BTW...do you wear trail running shoes when you run on the gravel roads?

Thanks IJR. Lately I've worn a trail shoe on most of my runs, but mainly as I'm getting ready for the 50K trail run so want to run in the same shoes. I run on dirt or gravel roads 90% or more of the time and my footwear choice just depends. I've been successful in my road shoe on gravel for lots of miles as well, and didn't own a trail shoe until last year. I'd say I've put over 1000 miles on gravel in a road shoe, maybe more. I prefer a trail shoe on gravel as it does seem to give more protection from sharp rocks underfoot.
