The only good thing about waking up at 4:50 to take my son to early morning wrestling practice was a chance to be at the Y for a long time. I put in 6 miles but it took a looooong time to warm up. Did almost 3 miles at 10:00 pace then walked a bit then finally started feeling it and did a couple miles at 8:30 pace and faster. Did some at 7:19 pace which is amazing to think I tried to run a marathon at that pace, then thought a sub 3:00 pace is 6:59 so did that for a bit then went to my 5K pace at 6:30 then dropped the last .1 mile at 5:56 pace. At last year's turkey trot I ran a 5:40 mile. I couldn't come close to that this year. Got my miles in then did a little bit of weight lifting. Not much but it felt good.

4 miles on the Y TM at lunch. I ran the whole time, no stopping, and it was tough. Kept it at 1% incline until the last mile, ran 1 mile at 6 mph, 2 miles at 7 mph, then dropped the incline to 0 and upped the speed, finished last 1/4 6:30 pace.

5 miles on the home TM this morning. It was tough but I was able to tough it out and not walk. That's progress. 1/2 mile at 6.0, next 3 at 7.0, 1/2 at 7.5, 1/2 at 8.0, last 1/4 at 9.0.

I'm planning on doing a Half Ironman relay in May in St. George, Utah with my niece swimming, my brother-in-law on bike, and me on the run. Not letting them down will help with my speed. Hoping for a 1:35 half (7:14 pace) and I should be able to match or beat that if I can get some long and fast miles in between now and then. I've got time.

Crazy day today but got some afternoon time on the home TM and that was more than I thought I'd get.
