6 tough miles today, uphill and in a headwind. I guess I didn't get all the rest I needed this weekend as my legs were pretty beat, yet I barely ran last week. I've had a lot going on. I need to find a long race and put together a training plan to boost my motivation. It is sorely lacking.

Hi Russ,

Thought I'd come visit as I see you commented on my blog. Actually I'd like to really come visit you in Montana :-) because I know it's beautiful up there! Looking at your race times it looks like we're on the same track. I started running in June '10 (never run before) but I'm afraid I'm somewhat over the hill for becoming really fast. I do have some goals to hopfully accomplish in the next couple of years though.

BTW...I like kids, animals and orange too :-)

Keep up the good running...see you on the blog!

Take it easy, Russ. You had a killer marathon. Your next one will be even better, but having some down time, and focusing on shorter distances in the meantime is going to help you more than getting back into the grind of marathon training. Enjoy the semi-break.

Your motivation will return when you see how well you do in the 5k, and get a spring marathon on the schedule. If you make it Ogden, I'd pace.

IJR - thanks for stopping by! Montana is a great place. We don't have many races, but some pretty fantastic scenery.

Kam - thanks for the voice of reason once again. This past couple weeks has reinforced that I am a man who needs a plan (in all parts of my life). Without it I flounder. I hadn't put my 5K training plan onto my calendar so I'll do that today. It should help a lot. Not sure about Ogden - I'll probably do my 50K from hell again in June. It was a beast but some friends from work might do it this year.
