6 mile run this morning. Not sure I can handle early morning runs every day. I like them on Saturday but I was really feeling it this morning. Headed up the hill for the first half although the way I went I hit some downhill 3/4 of a mile before the turnaround, so coming back was a bit tough up that hill. I was dragging today even on the downhill. I think I'll take tomorrow off. AP: 8:59

Russ, 6 miles - that's a good distance. Sounds like you're doing the right thing by listening to your body. Rest up and hit it refreshed on Thursday.

Good point Brian. I'm upping my mileage and also changing to mornings so sluggishness should be expected. Hopefully I'll get some decent sleep tonight.

a.m. running is superior in terms of temperature, but I like running in the evening and then sleeping it off. When I run in the morning, I'm so tired at work, which isn't a bad thing.

I've only done 1 evening run and it went okay. Might have to try that. Better than losing sleep to the alarm clock. How do you manage your food to not get a massive sideache?

Over time, I've become accustomed to having a lousy feeling gut on runs. It's helpful in races to know you can just keep going, and it doesn't matter. While it's hot, my evening runs are late; like after the sun goes down. If I eat dinner, and run 2-3 hours later, the gut isn't a problem. Sometimes I'll run right when I get home from work, around 6, with lunch a distant memory.
