4 elliptihell miles. I'm thankful for warmups. I wasn't feeling it this morning and I thought I might stop after a mile or so, but SportsCenter was in my face on a 50" flatscreen so I kept going. Ended up feeling good after 1.5 miles so I took it to 4. Also, amazed that a 15 resistance is good but doesn't get my HR up, but a 16 resistance took me into the low 150s, which is what I wanted.

I can still feel my achilles a little bit when I walk around so I'll stick with the elliptical or bike for a while more.

Russ what kind of shoes do you wear during the non-exercise portions of the day?

The reason I ask is b/c I have a perpetual achilles "niggle" - I have a knot in my right achilles (that eventually I need to have someone treat, but its been there for about 2 years, so no rush...). Occasionally it will bother me a bit, especially when I'm ramping up mileage/intensity. What I've discovered is that my "work" shoes have a lot to do w/ it... I have black shoes that have a big raised cushioned heel, and brown shoes that are basically flats. When I only wear the black shoes, my achilles doesn't bother me. I finally figured this out last week.

A little extra heel "lift" during the day can expedite recovery, or at least that's what I've found.

Very interesting, Jake. I wear typical dress shoes M-F (but never a dress) and both my black & brown have a raised heel.

Now that you mention it, I felt the niggle this morning heading to the gym in my running shoes, but I don't normally feel it during the day in my dress shoes. I'll keep thinking about that!

you wear a dress on sunday though, right?

Since I run very midfoot, it doesn't really matter if I'm wearing shoes w/ little to no heel while running... but I notice a difference in what I walk around in.

My "dress" shoes are actually all black old-school Saucony Jazz with a huge heel cushion. Close enough to real dress shoes and they are a lot more comfortable... I don't think anyone expects me to wear anything other than sneakers anyways :-)

Saturday nights are good for dresses, too.

I only wear dresses on Thursdays that have a 3 in the date. Don't want to stretch out my hosiery.
