Woke up at 5:55 and hit the road by 6:30 to drive from Smithfield to Bountiful for the Turkey Day race with Kam. I had Kam pick up my race packet last night just in case I hit bad roads and couldn't make it by 8:30. Turns out I had great roads and got there before 8:00. After changing clothes I went for a warmup outside. It was a bit chilly. Kam and his daughter showed up 10 minutes before 9:00 and I got my bib on and we headed out to start. The RD was more than 7 minutes late starting the race - ugh. We finally got going (28F and windy). My goal was 7:30s to start then slowly get faster. I essentially stuck to that plan except for the get faster part.

Ended up 1st in my age division, Kam 2nd, which surprised both of us with our pedestrian times. Turns out the two age groups above us both clocked faster times which is pretty funny. We happily each took home Costco pumpkin pies for our efforts.

Hey, congrats on the AG win and the pie! Pretty sure I've never won anything that awesome or tasty...

Free frozen burritos get a bad rap. I was happy to get out and race even though my fitness isn't close to where I'd like it to be. Picking off people one by one is a blast - I need more of that. It's harder to do that in my day job without having guilt. And the police.

And yes allie, I'm enjoying Smithfield and all Cache Valley has to offer. What a great place. It has it's downfalls, but if I could make any money living here I probably would move in a heartbeat or two. There are so many outdoor activities, it's close to a "big" city, etc, etc. But Billings is a pretty great place also. But we did get to enjoy Black Thursday and Friday and that was fun. Not too crowded but great prices and no fights (either at the store or with the relatives). A decent Thanksgiving weekend.

i'm glad you are having a nice weekend, free of fights with the relatives. :)

i think cache valley is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places around, but when it comes to living/working there, it was a bit too small and secluded for me. perfect place to go to school, though. i always love going back to visit.

show me the true blooded aggie from utah who doesn't love the spot where the saaaage bruuuush growwwwwws.
