6 miles before work, 34F with a breeze. Darn breeze right in my face on the out, very noisy in the headphones. I need to invent the headphone wind protector - small cups in front of the ear that deflect wind to the side. Might make me a millionare - don't steal my idea.

It's my fault this run is so hard, b/c I haven't been consistently doing my runs the past 42 months. But it's still frustrating that I know every pebble along the 3 miles out and back yet it's harder than I ever remember it being. Wishing now I were more motivated a while back.

I took two of my three boys snowboarding for the last time this year as the resort closes Sunday. I planned to wake up at 5 and run 10 miles, but I got to bed late. I think I turned off the alarm at 3 when I got up to use the bathroom.

Had a great day on the slopes, although I am horrible at snowboarding. Next time I'm using skis, which I haven't done in 20 years but I was good enough as a teen that I know I can pick it back up easier than sliding sideways on a huge piece of wood.

4 miles this morning from home. I've run these 2 miles probably hundreds of times and it's frustrating how hard it is right now because I've been inconsistent and been primarily on the treadmill. But I should stop complaining (when I die).

4 on the Y TM at 6 am, 2 on the elliptical as I wanted to finish my tv show and I still had 25 minutes left (but plenty of time).

Double digits when I didn't think I'd make it that far. Ran in town while my boy was at soccer practice. So so different running on asphalt versus gravel, much harder on the legs.

4.5 miles on the bike path in Nashville this morning before a conference. Tomorrow I'll start not next to tall buildings as the GPS signal didn't keep up and I only planned to run 4. It's all good. And much better weather than home.

A nice outside run in Nashville along the river, over a bridge to the Titans stadium, back over another bridge and back to the hotel. Nashville is hilly!

After did weights, pushups, and 43 sit ups for my 43rd birthday (I couldn't do 43 pushups)

AP: 9:23 (not sure the watch kept sync with the satellites the whole time, even though I purposely ran apart from the tall buildings)

6 miles this morning with my new friend Ken. Ran around Nashville, similar to other mornings. Nice but not amazing scenery. One hour talking flew by.

AP: 9:19 (I'm not sure the GPS works all the time in Nashville, this seems slow)

Running is hard. Running in the heat is harder, especially when you're older and fatter than normal. 80F, no humidity, no wind. Didn't feel hot, but my legs were dead and I walked a lot. Nearly walked it in the last 1 1/2 miles but saw a woman running slowly in front of me and I realized I didn't need a 7 mm to run, I could slog in a 9-10 mm. I thought I was going 10 pace, actually a 9:14 pace the last while. That worked.

1 mile on the TM. I'm so confused why I have dead legs. I didn't run the previous two days. What in the world? Ugh.

What a difference my legs felt from today vs yesterday. I dropped off the boys at seminary (their car is in the shop) and went for my run. I only had 35 minutes so I couldn't loaf. It felt great, and it was cold enough that it felt wonderful running (35F no wind).

My friends in the South may not comprehend how this is possible, but when I ran today at Noon it was 37 degrees. It felt great! We had a skiff of snow at my place early this morning as well.

The run went well. My legs still feel a bit heavy, but I think it's just because they haven't been used very much these past 9 months.

No watch so no idea of time, but lots of sweat so I worked hard enough.

Trail run at noon in great temps, cloudy skies. 48F with 7 mph wind. It felt great! No hat, no gloves, could've worn a short sleeve shirt. I changed at the Y then drove up to the rims as I wanted to run on trail all the way. Trail running is hard. Running is hard. I should run more.

I haven't done any crazy runs in a while, so I decided to change that. The 5K our group has been planning for months was this morning and I needed to be there at 6:30 to start setting up. I was bummed because I'd once again miss my long run. Or would I? If I woke up at 4 am I could run 10 miles before the 5K. So that's what I did, and so glad I did. I love my new Cascadia shoes, BTW. Love them!

AP: 8:43

And the race went really well. 165 registered, fewer than that ran, but everyone who did run really enjoyed it. Wahoo! Lots of work.
