90 minutes of treadmill running at home. Didn't feel like spending that amount of time in 16 degree temps with 5 degree wind chill as that seems to always get me sick. I don't like being sick. Probably need me some new outdoor running attire, but it's tough to find that combo of warm enough but not too hot for long winter runs.

I found during this run that it's really difficult to play Black Ops 2 and run at a 6 mph pace. I tried, though. I also found that a 6.5 mph pace is too fast for my @#$##$!% achilles. It is feeling better than a few weeks ago, but really annoying that I can't just run normally. What's that? Be grateful for what I have as some people can't run at all? Okay, point taken. Now quit the voices in my head. They are distracting.

It was a 4 wringer headband day. Good long run. Longest time I've run in a long while. I plan to do more of that over the break as I'm taking the rest of the year off work.

Hope you're well, old fella. I see that achilles is still giving you gyp. Is it the tender part on the side? Or is it the actual tendon? Or is it just above the tendon? Or is it your ear:)? Often, ice massage works a treat. Just get an ice cube, hold it in a towel of some sort, and gently massage into the area of pain.

No doubt you're set for the festivities; just go steady on eats, otherwise that achilles might snap under all the extra poundage:)

Have a great time and best wishes to all of the 'Russ' family - little ones and big ones alike. Hope Santa is good to you...

Cheers Bam! Thanks for the mention of icing the achilles. I keep forgetting about doing that. The pain is just up from the heel, straight in the middle so I assume that's the actual achilles. It seems to be okay if I don't try to run up hill and if I take it nice and slowly. I've been doing the eccentric heel drops as recommended by Jake (with accompanying article) and that's been helping, but I forget the ice part. It's a tough injury to remember as it doesn't hurt during the day so I tend to forget about it until I start running. My memory is a sieve.

We had a fantastic Christmas today. I hope the same went for you and yours, and tomorrow is a great one for you as well. I've put on a few pounds with this low mileage thing so I'm laying off. I don't like seeing the scale moving upwards.
