4 miles to start off a 50 mile week. Here's to hoping that everything goes well this week as my next 3 weeks have my long runs at 22, 22, 24 before a step back week then the 50K the following week. I'm not excited. Not at all.

Noon: Boot Camp. Sweatfest 2013, even in my St George Running Center singlet. I tried not to go too crazy hard as this will be a big mileage week, but the competitive juices get going when getting yelled at. Good workout.

Very good job with your buildup so far Russ, get it done!

Don't let the numbers mess with your head, Russ. Also, I've never ran over 21 in marathon prep. I don't know if the 24 is a good idea. If you are looking for an out, I just provided it. Maybe it's best to leave those extremely high effort, highly fatigued miles for race day, when they count. Then again, you are also training for a 31 miler, and that 24 is only 80% of that total...I guess I'm no help at all.

22, 22, 24 Long Runs for the next three weeks? That seems a little extreme? What macho marathon program are you on?

Oh, good effort today!

IJR, it's a 50K training plan so more about time on feet than it is miles, but these miles are a pretty close approximator. Last year I followed the same plan for the 50K but only hit one 22 miler as the other weekends were too booked. I'm not sure how I'll do with these upcoming but I'll do my best. It's a pretty good bank of miles.

Kam thanks for the potential out but yep, those pesky extra 5+ miles do make for some longish training runs.
